In the year 2018, an impressive 10.6 thousand companies chose to export goods to Germany for the first time. The vast majority of these companies were characterised as micro enterprises, with over 83 per cent of these newcomers having fewer than 10 employees. This illustrates the attractiveness of the German market, even for the most modest players in the Dutch entrepreneurial landscape.
Some 50,000 Dutch companies have set their sights on German soil, 10,000 of which focus exclusively on exporting to Germany. What is even more remarkable is that another 31,000 Dutch companies offer their services in this promising market. This estimate clearly shows that as many as 91% of these companies belong to SMEs, while the remaining 9% can be labelled large companies.
